1. Allergic contact dermatitis: common on the back of the hand, usually erythema, itching and vesicles appear 24 to 48 hours after latex contact.
2. Irritant contact dermatitis: caused by obstruction, mechanical irritation, alkaline gloves or sweating, etc., manifested as erythema on the back of the hand, penetration, dryness, dryness, scratching.
The principle of anti-allergy caused by latex coated gloves
Clinical data shows that there are three kinds of itching symptoms when wearing latex gloves. Its characteristics and prevention principles are as follows:
1. Irritant contact dermatitis: This dermatitis is the most common, usually only manifested as redness, itching, dryness or chapped skin on the hands.
Reason: Wash your hands repeatedly with soap disinfectant, but it cannot be dried. The gloves are not breathable, causing irritation; if the gloves are dry, it may be caused by the stimulation of the talc in the gloves.
Solution: Before washing gloves, be sure to rinse off soap liquid or detergent, and then wipe or dry your hands before wearing gloves. If it is dry gloves, there should not be too much internal talcum powder. After using the gloves, be sure to wash the talc powder on the hands with clean water. Once irritation dermatitis occurs, the symptoms will quickly disappear with some antipruritic drugs.
2. Allergic contact dermatitis: less common than irritant dermatitis. It is characterized by itchy hands, dry or chapped skin 6 to 48 hours after contact, often accompanied by erythema and blisters, and generally no obvious symptoms of systemic allergic dermatitis.
Cause: This dermatitis is not caused by latex allergies, but by delayed allergies caused by certain chemicals in the production of latex gloves.
Treatment: In principle, the type of latex gloves or gloves should be changed before each use, but in practice, in order to prevent serious allergic reactions, it is best to use less or less. Once allergic contact dermatitis occurs, oral antihistamines are required and hands are applied to the skin from the outside, and the symptoms of dermatitis will soon disappear.
3. Latex allergic reactions: extremely rare, mainly immediate reactions. Usually, wearing gloves within a few minutes to ten minutes, the body will appear redness, itching and dermatitis. Conjunctivitis, chest tightness, heart pit, etc. In severe cases, breathing difficulties and tachycardia may occur.
Cause: These dermatitis symptoms are caused by latex allergy.
Treatment: Once this dermatitis occurs, it should be treated immediately with anti-allergic drugs. The gloves should be quickly removed and the hands washed repeatedly with normal saline. People with allergic reactions to latex should avoid touching latex-coated gloves and other latex products again.
